Cis-1-benzyl-4-(1-tert-butoxycarbonylaminocyclopropyl)-3-hydroxymethylpyrrolidine (820.1 mg, 2.376 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (50 ml), and the solution was mixed with a 5% palladium-carbon catalyst (water content, 55.6%; 750 mg) and stirred for one day under a hydrogen pressure of 4.5 kg/cm2. After removing the catalyst by celite filtration (methanol washing), the resulting filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain 578.8 mg (91%) of the title compound as a white amorphous substance.
