Procedure
trans-4-(4-Benzylpiperazin-1-yl)cyclohexanol (prepared from benzylpiperazine according to the process described in Example 1 using, in Stage e, NaBH4 in ethanol) (15 g, 54.6 mmol) is placed in 150 ml of ethanol under 4 bar of hydrogen in the presence of 10% palladium-on-charcoal (1 g) . After stirring for 72 h, the catalyst is filtered off on celite and the filtrate is concentrated to dryness. 9.6 g of light-colored oil are isolated.
