To a solution of 4.4 g (21 mmol) of 2 in 17.5 mL (105 mmol) of triethylorthoformate was added 9.9 mL (105 mmol) of acetic anhydride. The resulting solution was heated to reflux for h before being concentrated to a solid. Recrystallization from AcOEt-hexanes gave 5.0 g (90%) of the title compound as a white solid.
