To a solution of 6-(hydroxymethyl)-7-methyl-2H-pyrido[3,2-b][1,4]thiazin-3(4H)-one (290 mg, 1.38 mmol) in MeCl2 (20 mL) and was added MnO2 (1.2 g, 13.8 mmol). The reaction was vigorously stirred at RT for 12 h and then filtered and the solvent was removed at reduced pressure. Purification provided 176 mg of the desired aldehyde: MS (ES) m/z 209 (M+H)+.
