Reaction Steps

2-Amino-4-fluorobenzoic acid (7.75 g, 50 mmol) was heated in formamide (50 ml) at 150° C. for 8 hours. Water (50 ml) was added to the reaction mixture and the solid recovered by filtration, washed with water and dried in vacuo (50° C., 0.1 mm Hg) to yield 7-fluoroquinazolin-4-(3H)-one (7.3 g, 89% yield):
