A mixture of 2-bromo-4-{[(2,4-dimethoxy-benzyl)-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-amino]-methyl}-thiazole-5-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (1.04 g, 2.08 mmole), 3-chloro-4-fluorophenylboronic acid (726 mg, 4.16 mmole), cesium carbonate (2.04 g, 6.25 mmole) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (241 mg, 0.21 mmole) in dioxane (7 ml) was refluxed for 16 h before it was cooled to room temperature, quenched with water and filtered. The filtrate was partitioned between ethyl acetate and water. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel with a gradient of ethyl acetate and hexanes to give the title compound as a yellow oil (649 mg). MS: (+) m/z 551.26 (M+H+)
