A suspension of the crude 4-bromomethyl-2-tert-butyl-7-(2,2-dimethyl-propionyloxy)-thiazolo[4,5-c]pyridine-6-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (above), 2-propanethiol (75 μL, 0.8 mmol), and cesium carbonate (130 mg, 0.4 mmol) in 0.8 mL of a 1:1 mixture of THF:ethanol was stirred for 22 h. The resultant reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, and washed with water and brine. The organic fractions were dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to 160 mg of the title compound. MS (ESI+): m/z 452.95 (M+1).
