A suspension of 1.00 g (1.75 mmol) (R)-2-(4-benzyloxy-3,5-dimethyl-phenyl)-1-carboxy-ethyl 4-(2-oxo-1,2,4,5-tetrahydro-1,3-benzodiazepin-3-yl)-piperidine-1-carboxylate (Example 7g) and 150 mg 10% Pd/C in 30 mL MeOH was hydrogenated at RT and 3000 hPa hydrogen pressure until the reaction stopped. The catalyst was suction filtered and the residue was purified by chromatography (silica gel, EtOAc).
