Reaction Steps
tert-Butyl 4-(3-methoxy-2,2-dimethyl-3-oxopropyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (1.40 g, 4.67 mmol) was dissolved in anhydrous 4N HCl in dioxane (10 mL) and the resulting solution was stirred at rt for 1 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated to afford methyl 2,2-dimethyl-3-piperidin-4-ylpropanoate hydrochloride.
