Reaction Steps

To a solution of 5-(7-benzyloxy-3-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-6-yl)-1,1-dioxo-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-3-one potassium salt in water (10 mL), is added 10% Pd/C (0.014 g). The suspension is stirred under an atmosphere of H2 for 18 h. The aqueous solution is filtered through Celite and the water is removed by lyophilization. The crude solid is purified by preparative HPLC to afford 5-(7-hydroxy-3-methoxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-6-yl)-1,1-dioxo-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-3-one as a pale-yellow powder: 1H NMR (DMSO-d6) δ 7.66 (s, 1H), 7.27 (s, 1H), 6.77 (d, J=3.54 Hz, 1H), 4.03 (s, 2H), 3.77 (s, 3H); (M−H)−=325.
