Reaction Steps

EDCI (84.4 mg, 0.44 mmol) is added to a solution of the title A compound, followed by methyl 2-(4-carboxy-benzene-sulfonylamino)-benzoate (134.1 mg, 0.40 mmol) and 1-hydroxy-7-azabenzotriazole (HOAt, 59.9 mg, 0.44 mmol) in 1 mL of DMF at RT. The reaction is stirred 1 h after which phenethylamine (50.2 μL, 0.40 mmol) is added. The resulting solution is stirred overnight at RT, followed by addition of 5% aqueous sodium bicarbonate (1 mL) and water (8 mL). A white precipitate is collected by filtration, washed with water, and dried under vacuum to give 2-(4-phenethylcarbamoylbenzenesulfonyl-amino)-benzoic acid methyl ester m.p. 167-168° C.
