50 g (0.21 mol) of 3-(tert-butyldimethyl-silanyloxy)benzaldehyde are dissolved in 500 ml of ethyl ether and the mixture is cooled to 0° C. 80 ml (0.24 mol) of a 3.0 M solution of ethylmagnesium bromide are added slowly, and the mixture is stirred for 5 hours. After the usual treatment, the residue obtained is purified by chromatography on a silica column (eluent ethyl acetate 20/hexane 80). A colorless oil is obtained (m=45.8 g; Y=82%).
