Procedure
The product of Example 3 (0.102 g, 0.22 mmol) was suspended in MeOH (2 mL) and stirred under argon. A 1 Molar solution of NaOMe in methanol (0.44 mL, 0.44 mmol) was added. After 10 min the solvent was removed in vacuo, and the residue partitioned between EtOAc and H2O. The organic phase was washed with H2O (2×), satd aq NaCl (1×), dried over anhydrous Na2SO4, filtered, and evaporated to give the crude product. Recrystallization from EtOAc/hexane gave the title compound as a white-crystalline solid. mp 210-211° C., LC MS m/z=401 (MH+) Rt=2.0 min.
