Reaction Steps
A solution of morpholine (0.50 g, 5.7 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (10 mL) was treated with Et3N and cooled to 0° C. The mixture was treated with chloroacetyl chloride (0.50 mL, 6.3 mmol) as a solution in CH2Cl2 (2 mL). The reaction was stirred at 0° C. for 15 min and then at room temperature for 30 min. The reaction was diluted with CH2Cl2 and washed with water. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound (0.72 g, 76%) as a colorless oil. 1H-NMR (CDCl3; 400 MHz): δ 4.06 (s, 2H), 3.73-7.67 (m, 4H), 3.62 (app t, 2H, J=4.0 Hz), 3.52 (app t, 2H, J=4.0 Hz).
