A suspension of 4-[[3-ethoxycarbonyl-7-(trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolyl]amino]benzoic acid hydrochloride (2.51 g) in thionyl chloride (25 ml) was stirred under reflux for 4 hours and concentrated to dryness in vacuo to give 4-[[3-ethoxycarbonyl-7-(trifluoromethyl)-4-quinolyl]amino]benzoyl chloride hydrochloride (2.62 g) as yellow powder.
