Procedure

Dissolved in water was 3.6 g (0.01 mole) of the thus-obtained 2-[N-methyl-N-(2,4-dichlorobenzyl)carbamoyl]-3-methyl-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazole hydrochloride. While stirring the solution at room temperature, aqueous ammonia was added dropwise. The resultant precipitate was collected by filtration and then washed and purified with a great deal of water, thereby obtaining 3.0 g of N-(2,4-dichlorobenzyl)-N,3-dimethyl-5,6-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazole-2-carboxamide (melting point: 55°-60° C.; light yellowish crystals).
