Reaction Steps
Then, 16.6 g of 1-acetyl-2-(4-nitrophenyl)hydrazine was catalytically reduced in 800 ml of ethanol at room temperature using palladium-carbon as a catalyst. The reaction mixture was filtered and cooled to provide 10.5 g of 1-acetyl-2-(4-aminophenyl)hydrazine. The yield was 75% and the melting point was 130°-140° C.
