Procedure
Ethyl 2-{4-[(7-chloroquinolin-3-yl)oxy]phenoxy}-2-methylpropionate (15) was prepared from 4-[(7-chloroquinolin-3-yl)oxy]phenol and ethyl 2-bromo-2-methylpropionate following essentially the same procedure as that described in Example 1 part (c). The product, a pale yellow oil was characterised by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Pmr spectrum (CDCl3 ; δ in ppm): 8.65 (1H, d); 7.95 (1H, bs); 7.35 (3H, m); 6.9 (4H, s); 4.2 (2H, q); 1.6 (6H, s); 1.2 (3H, t).
