In the same manner as described in Example 8 by using (3R)-3-hydroxymethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-β-carboline (2.02 g), 2N NaOH (12.5 ml), CS2 (1.9 g), 2-thenyl chloride (3.31 g) and 80% ethanol (50 ml), there is prepared the title compound (1.68 g, 45%) as white powder, [α]D20 -113.8° (c=1.0, methanol). NMR (CDCl3, δ): 4.83 (s, 2H, ##STR10## Mass m/e: 374 (M+), 244 (M+ -- ##STR11##
