A mixture of 5-chloro-1H-indole-2-carboxylic acid [1(S)-benzyl-2-oxo-2-(4-oxo-piperidin-1-yl)-ethyl]-amide (406 mg, 0.96 mmol), hydroxylamine hydrochloride (80 mg, 1.15 mmol), and potassium carbonate, (159 mg, 1.15 mmol) in ethanol (6 mL) and water (1 mL) was stirred at 25° C. for 18 h and concentrated. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate and the resulting solution washed with water and dried (411 mg, 98%): HPLC (60/40) 5.13 minutes (97%); TSPMS 439/441 (MH+, 100%);
