(1-Methyl-6-morpholin-4-yl-1H-indol-3-yl)-acetic acid methyl ester (2.67 g, 9.26 mmol) was suspended in concentrated NH4OH (20 mL) in a 100 mL flask, sealed and stirred for 24 h. The mixture was transferred into a 500 mL flask and more NH4OH (80 mL) was added. The flask was again sealed and stirring was continued for another 24 h. The volatiles were removed under reduced pressure. (1-methyl-6-morpholin-4-yl-1H-indol-3-yl)acetamide (2.39 g, 94%) was obtained after lyophilization.
