Procedure
A mixture of 10 g of 7-chloro-3-(2,5-difluorophenyl)-6-methoxy-1,2-benzisoxazole and 40 g of pyridine HCl is heated at 200° C. for 45 minutes. The hot mixture is poured into vigorously stirred ice water and a product precipitates out. The product is filtered and dried giving 7-chloro-3-(2,5-difluorophenyl)-6-hydroxy-1,2-benzisoxazole, mp 256°-257° C.
