Procedure
To a solution of 8 g of 1-(2-fluorophenyl)-2-(2-nitrophenyl)ethanone oxime in 20 ml of pyridine, 10 ml of acetic anhydride is added dropwise. The mixture is warmed (steam bath) for 31/2 hours, poured into water and extracted with methylene chloride. The methylene chloride extract is washed with 5% hydrochloric acid, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and evaporated. The residual oil is distilled at 5 mm to give 1-(2-fluorophenyl)-2-(2-nitrophenyl)ethanone oxime acetate, bp 133°-135° C.
