A mixture of 4 g of N-[3-(bromomethyl)phenyl]-3-(tetradecyloxy)benzeneacetamide and 3.84 g of 5-methylthiazole in 40 ml of toluene is refluxed for 1.5 hours under argon, cooled and the solvent evaporated to a residue. The residue is mixed with ether and the solid collected by centrifugation. The solid is washed several times with ether then dried by vacuum to give 4.3 g of the desired product as an off white powder, m.p. 125°-130° C.
