A mixture of trans-N-[3-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)cyclopentyl]phthalimide (F) (1.53 g, 5.44 mmol), and hydrazinemonohydorate (0.53 mL, 10.9 mmol) in EtOH (30 mL) was stirred at reflux for 4 h. After cooling, the reaction mixture was filtered followed by the removal of solvent. The crude product was purified by column chromatography (Chromatrex, CH2Cl2/EtOH=30/1) to yield trans-3-(1H-pyrazol-1-yl)cyclopentylamine (427 mg, 52%) as yellow oil.
