To a stirred solution of 2-(4-(quinolin-2-ylmethoxy)phenyl)acetic acid (2.0 g, 6.825 mmol) in CHCl3 (6 mL) was added SOCl2 (10 mL) at 0° C. and the reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 2 h. The reaction was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was re-dissolved in ether (50 mL). The mixture was concentrated in vacuo again to afford 2-(4-(quinolin-2-ylmethoxy)phenyl)acetyl chloride (2.0 g, 95%) as a light yellow oil.
