A mixture of (A3) (1.0 eq.) and aniline (1.05 eq.) in EtOH (0.2 M) was stirred at reflux under N2 atmosphere for 2 hr until TLC revealed completation of the reaction (Hexane/EtOAc=75:25). Evaporation of the solvent gave (A4) as a white solid which was used in the next step without further purification. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3, 300K) δ 8.51 (1H, d, J=7.3 Hz), 8.41 (1H, s), 8.11 (1H, d, J=7.8 Hz), 7.67 (1H, t, J=7.8 Hz), 7.43 (2H, t, J=7.8 Hz), 7.31 (1H, t, J=7.3 Hz), 7.16 (2H, d, J=7.8 Hz), 3.94 (3H, s).
