A solution of 3-chloro-2-methylbenzenesulfonyl chloride (0.75 g, 0.0033 mol) in 5 mL of acetonitrile was added to a solution of tert-butyl (3S)-piperidin-3-ylcarbamate (0.67 g, 0.0033 mol) in 5 mL of acetonitrile at 0° C. After stirring at rt for 1.5 h the reaction mixture was filtered and concentrated to afford the desired product, which was used in the next step without further purification.
