Phenylmethyl 4-((6,7-dihydro[1,4]dioxino[2,3-c]pyridazin-3-ylmethyl) {[(1,1-dimethylethyl)oxy]carbonyl}amino)-1-piperidinecarboxylate (11.89 g. 25 mmol) in ethanol (90 ml) was hydrogenated with 10% palladium on charcoal (aqueous paste, 2 g) for 21 h. The mixture was filtered and evaporated to give a white solid (8.5 g, 97%).
