To a solution of 3-(3-bromomethylphenyl)-5-iso-butyl-N-tert-butylthiophene-2-sulfonamide (105 mg, 0.236 mmol; see Example 1(e)) in dioxane (2.0 mL) was added 2-methylimidazole (58 mg, 0.71 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred for 1.5 h at 80° C. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash chromatography using MeOH:CH2Cl2 (6:94) as eluent to give the sub-title compound in 77% yield as a colourless syrup (81 mg, 0.182 mmol).
