To a solution of 3-(3-bromomethylphenyl)-5-iso-butyl-N-tert-butylthiophene-2-sulfonamide (71.8 mg, 0.162 mmol; see Example 1(e)) in dioxane (2.0 mL) was added benzimidazole (57.3 mg, 0.485 mmol) and the reaction mixture was stirred for 5.5 h at 80° C. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash chromatography using MeOH:CH2Cl2 (3:97) as eluent to give the sub-title compound in 93% yield as a colourless syrup (72.3 mg, 0.151 mmol).
