Procedure
Compound 38 (0.37 g, 1.9 mmol) was dissolved in MeOH (containing Pd(OH)2/C (0.03 g)). Hydrogenation was accomplished within 3 hours (1 atm) at room temperature. The reaction mixture was filtered, washed with ethyl acetate/MeOH (1/1) and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified by flash chromatography (ethyl acetate followed by ethyl acetate/MeOH 1/1) to afford compound 39 as an oil (0.29 g, 95%). 1H-NMR (200 MHz, CDCl3 and D6DMSO 1/1): δ 9.05 (d, J=2 Hz, 1H), 8.51 (d, J=5 Hz, 2 Hz, 1H), 8.09 (dt, J=8 Hz, 2 Hz, 1H), 7.43 (s, 1H), 7.37-7.32 (m, 1H).
