To a solution of 5-(2-benzyloxy-4-iodophenyl)-1,1-dioxo-1,2,5-thiadiazolidin-3-one (160 mg, 0.36 mmol), ethylvinyl ketone (50 mg, 0.43 mmol) and Pd(OAc)2 (8 mg) in MeCN (2 mL) is added triethylamine (0.5 mL, 3.6 mmol) and the mixture is heated at 100° C. in a pressure vessel for 4 h. The mixture is filtered and the solvent removed under reduced pressure to give the title compound which is used directly in the next step.
