3-(7-Fluoro-benzo[b]thiophene-2-carbonyl)-3-(tetrahydro-pyran-4-ylmethyl)-pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester was prepared from 3-[(7-fluoro-benzo[b]thiophen-2-yl)-hydroxy-methyl]-3-(tetrahydro-pyran-4-ylmethyl)-pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester by oxidation with MnO2 using the procedure of step 3 of Example 18.
