2,4,6-Trifluoro-benzaldehyde (x) (4.5 g, 27.3 mmol) was dissolved in Et2O, methylhydrazine was added (1.43 mL, 27.3 mmol) and the RM was stirred overnight. The solvent was evaporated and the solid residue was suspended in a mixture of pentane and EtOAc to afford after filtration the title compound as a bright yellow crystalline solid (tR 4.95 min (conditions 3), MH+=198.1).
