ST 1436 was prepared as described in example 2/2 from 7-azaindole and butyraldehyde. The reaction, however, was heated under reflux for 48 hours. The end product was isolated and purified chromatographically on a silica column eluting with a CH2Cl2:CH3COCH3 gradient ranging from 9:1 to 4:6. Yield 15%.
