Procedure

Boron trifluoride etherate (37.2 μl) was added to a stirred solution of 3-[N-(4-cyanobenzoyl)-N-methylaminomethyl]-3-cyclohexyloxetane (281 mg) in dichloromethane (3 ml) at -70° C. under nitrogen. After stirring overnight a further portion of boron trifluoride etherate (110 μl) was added. After stirring for a further 24 hours the reaction mixture was poured into dichloromethane (20 ml, saturated with ammonia). Filtration and evaporation of the filtrate gave 1-(4-cyanophenyl)-4-cyclohexyl-7-methyl-2,6-dioxa-7-aza-bicyclo[2,2,2]octane as pale yellow crystals.
