To a solution of [2-(1,1-Dioxo-1lambda*6*-thiomorpholin-4-yl)-1-methyl-2-oxo-ethyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (5.6 g, 18.2 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (70 mL) was added trifluoroacetic acid (5 mL) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was allowed to warm to room temperature and was stirred for 3 hours. After removal of CH2Cl2 and excess trifluoro acetic acid under reduced pressure, 2-Amino-1-(1,1-dioxo-1lambda*6*-thiomorpholin-4-yl)-propan-1-one (6.0 g, yield 100%) was obtained as a white solid. MS (M+H)=207.
