Method 3 was followed using 2-isopropoxy-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (2.5 equiv.), butyllithium (2.4 equiv.) and 1-(3,5-difluorophenyl)cyclobutanol (1.0 equiv.) to give 1-(3,5-difluoro-4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)phenyl)cyclobutanol in 100% yield. 1H NMR (400 MHz, <cdcl3>) δ ppm 1.23-1.25 (m, 12 H), 1.69-1.82 (m, 1 H), 2.05-2.12 (m, 1 H), 2.37 (br. s., 2 H), 2.47 (br. s., 2 H), 7.00 (d, J=8.80 Hz, 2 H).
