Procedure

To a degassed solution of methyl 6-(2,6-difluoro-4-(trifluoromethylsulfonyloxy)phenyl)-5-fluoropicolinate (1.0 equiv.) in DME/2M Na2CO3 (3/1, 0.09 M) was added 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-2-(prop-1-en-2-yl)-1,3,2-dioxaborolane (1.5 equiv.) and PdCl2(dppf)-CH2Cl2Adduct (0.1 equiv.). The reaction was heated to 90° C. in an oil bath for 15 min. The mixture was cooled to rt and partitioned between water and ethyl acetate. The organic phase was dried with sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. The crude material was purified via silica gel column chromatography (Analogix, eluting with 0-100% ethyl acetate). The pure fractions were concentrated to yield methyl 6-(2,6-difluoro-4-(prop-1-en-2-yl)phenyl)-5-fluoropicolinate. LC/MS=308.2 (M+H), Rt=0.99 min. 1H NMR (400 MHz, <cdcl3>) δ ppm 2.15 (s, 3 H), 4.01 (s, 3 H), 5.23 (s, 1 H), 5.47 (s, 1 H), 7.11 (d, J=9.39 Hz, 2 H), 7.65 (t, J=8.41 Hz, 1 H), 8.26 (dd, J=8.61, 3.91 Hz, 1 H).
