To the solution of 2-{[4-chloro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]oxy}-5-formylbenzonitrile (1.59 g, 4.88 mmol) in ethanol (45 ml), was added NaBH4 (0.203 g, 5.37 mmol). The solution was stirred at room temperature under nitrogen for 1.5 h. After removing the solvent, the residue was dissolved in DCM, then washed with water twice. The solvent was dried over Na2SO4, concentrated to afford the title compound (1.43 g, 89% yield) as a white solid. LCMS: rt=3.31 min, [M+H+]=328
