A suspension of Pemetrexed Monosodium in EtOH containing 0-2% water (v/v) was heated to reflux. 1.0 eq of aq. NaOH (30% w/w) were added over a period of 2 to 4 h and the mixture was stirred under reflux until PXRD showed complete conversion. The suspension was cooled to 20° C. to 30° C. and the solid was isolated by filtration, washed with EtOH and dried in vacuo to constant weight at 50° C. at 5 mbar to give Pemetrexed Disodium Form IV.
