Zinc bromide (20 mg) and 10% palladium-activated carbon (40 mg) were added to a solution of (5R)-5-[(E)-2-(5-cyclopropyl-6-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-2-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)ethenyl]pyrrolidin-2-one (100 mg) in methanol (3 mL), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours in a hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction solution was filtered through celite, after which the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give a crude product of (5R)-5-[2-(5-cyclopropyl-6-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-2-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)ethyl]pyrrolidin-2-one as an amorphous (120 mg).
