Tert-butyl(trans-3-(2-methoxy-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-3-yl)cyclobutyl)carbamate (0.9680 g, 3.04 mmol) and hydrogen chloride (4.0M solution in 1,4-dioxane, 7.60 ml, 30.4 mmol) were combined at room temperature and stirred for 75 minutes. The mixture was evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure and the crude 3-(trans-3-aminocyclobutyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridin-2(3H)-one dihydrochloride (0.780 g, 2.82 mmol, 93.5% yield) used without further purification.
