2-(2-Isopropyl-5-methyl-2H-[1,2,4]triazol-3-yl)-8-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-[1,3,2]dioxaborolan-2-yl)-4,5-dihydro-6-oxa-3-thia-1-aza-benzo[e]azulene (0.496 g, 0.00110 mol), 5-trifluoromethanesulfonyloxy-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyridine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (0.550 g, 0.996 mmol) and sodium carbonate (0.317 g, 0.00299 mol) were dissolved in 1,2-dimethoxyethane (5.6 mL) and water (3.1 mL). The reaction was thoroughly degassed with N2. Tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (0.115 g, 0.0000996 mol) was added and the reaction was heated to 80° C. for 3 hours. Water and dichloromethane were added and the mixture was extracted 3 times with dichloromethane. The organic layers were combined, dried with MgSO4 and concentrated. The crude was purified by flash chromatography to afford 5-[2-(2-Isopropyl-5-methyl-2H-[1,2,4]triazol-3-yl)-4,5-dihydro-6-oxa-3-thia-1-aza-benzo[e]azulen-8-yl]-3,6-dihydro-2H-pyridine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester as a yellow solid (396 mg).
