Sitagliptin free base (2.0 gms) and coumaric acid (0.80 gms) were dissolved in methanol (12 ml) at 60° C. to 65° C. and the solution was cooled to room temperature. Isopropyl ether (240 ml) was added to the resultant clear solution and stirred for 14 hours. Precipitated solids were filtered and dried at 50° C. to 55° C. for 6 hours to obtain the title compound.
