A mixture of 6-nitro-N-[cis-4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)cyclohexyl]thieno[3,2-b]pyridin-7-amine (32 mg, 0.093 mmol) and 10% palladium on carbon (4 mg) in methanol (0.9 mL) was hydrogenated under balloon pressure of H2 at room temperature for 2 h. The reaction was filtered and the resultant filtrate was concentrated to give the desired product, which was used directly in the next step. LCMS calculated for C15H19N6S (M+H)+: m/z=315.1. Found: 315.1.
