A solution of N-(4-bromo-3-fluoro-2-nitro-6-(pyridin-2-yl)phenyl)pivalamide (7.50 g, 18.93 mmol) in 70% aqueous solution of H2SO4 (31.2 mL) was heated up to 80° C. for 30 min. After completion of reaction (by TLC), the mixture was poured onto 100 mL of crushed ice and basified up to pH 6 to 7 by 20% NaOH solution. Precipitated solid was filtered and dried under vacuum to obtain the desired product as a yellow solid (4.96 g, 84%).
