To a solution of (E)-ethyl 3-(1-(3,4-difluorophenyl)cyclohexyl)acrylate (550 mg, 1.869 mmol) in MeOH (20 mL) was added ˜150 mg of 10% Pd/C (wet, 50%), and the mixture was stirred under hydrogen (50 psi) for 6 hrs. The catalyst was removed by filtering through Celite and the solvent was evaporated off to give ethyl 3-(1-(3,4-difluorophenyl)cyclohexyl)propanoate as an oil. LC/MS: m/e 297.16 (M+H)+.
