Reaction Steps

A mixture of [5-(8-carbamoyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-[1,8]naphthyridin-3-yl)-pyridin-3-yl]-acetic acid ethyl ester (1.0 g, 2.9 mmol) and lithium hydroxide (123 mg, 5.1 mmol) in EtOH (10 mL) and H2O (10 mL) are stirred at room temperature for 16 h. The reaction is concentrated to remove the EtOH and the remaining aqueous mixture is treated with 1N HCl and diluted with EtOAc. The solid formed is filtered, rinsed and dried to give 500 mg of the titled product.
